Bolivia- Impact Evaluation of off-grid solar PV home system project – Global Status of Energy Access Report (SEAR)

The purpose of this consultancy is to carry out field surveys to collect household and village level data for an impact evaluation study of off-grid solar PV home system project in Bolivia. This project is one of the four energy projects selected for rigorous ex-post impact evaluation under the Global Status of Energy Access (SEAR) activities. Documenting the impact of energy access programs is an important component of SEAR. Lessons learned and knowledge gathered from this evaluation are expected to help future policies and investments. The study is being carried out by ESMAP of the World Bank.

Formative Program Evaluation of the Private Sector Window of the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP)

Three program level evaluations are planned for GAFSP PrSW, including a formative one, a mid-term one, and a summative one towards the end of the program. IFC is currently looking for a firm to conduct the formative evaluation of the GAFSP PrSW, and would like to invite interested firms with experience in program evaluations of private sector operations in the agribusiness sector to submit Expression of Interest. Advanced training in research methods required.

Review of the Mozambique Rural Water Projects Implementation Manual

The National Water Directorate (DNA) has requested the Water and Sanitation Program of the World Bank (WSP) to support the review of Rural Water Supply Project Implementation Manual (MIPAR) approved by Ministerial Diploma No. 23/2002 of 13 March. Tunisia Road Transport Corridors Project

The World Bank’s Board of Directors will soon be discussing the proposed Tunisia Road Transport Corridors Project. This project involves a total of $231 million, of which $200 million is provided by the World Bank.

The Project Development Objectives are (i) to reduce transportation cost and time and improve road safety on select road corridors between lagging regions in Tunisia and more developed areas and (ii) strengthen the Ministry of Equipment’s capacity in road asset management.

Netherlands, Bangladesh and World Bank agree to protect Bangladesh delta

Ministers Lilianne Ploumen (Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation) and Melanie Schultz van Haegen (Infrastructure and Environment) have signed an agreement with the Government of Bangladesh and the World Bank Group to protect the Bangladesh delta against flooding and to ensure sufficient clean drinking water and sanitation. The Netherlands and Bangladesh will also collaborate in the field of land reclamation and port development. The Bangladesh lowlands form the largest delta of Asia and the world’s most densely populated area that faces serious water challenges (remainder in Dutch).

Heineken & IFC collaborate to expand Rwanda’s Bralirwa Brewery

On April 22, the World Bank Board of Directors approved a $25 million IFC investment in Brasserie et Limonaderies du Rwanda Ltd. (“Bralirwa”). Bralirwa is the leading beer brewer in Rwanda with more than six beer brands and seven Coca-Cola brands, and is owned for 75% by Heineken N.V., one of the largest brewers in the world.

The IFC’s senior loan is part of a larger Bralirwainvestment of $50 million that supports the company’s capacity expansion program over the next few years.
