eConsultant2 & the Request for Proposal stage

In one of the first blog posts we highlighted i-love-procurement2the difference between Operational Procurement and Corporate Procurement. You can review this post at http://wp.me/p4X6vO-72. In essence, corporate procurement is when the World Bank procures goods, works or (consultancy) services itself, whereas in operational procurement, this is done by the borrowing country.

Roughly every quarter we have a meeting with the Corporate Procurement team to discuss any issues, problems, complaints and – every once in a while – compliments that you have raised with us. In this post, we’d like to update you on some of the changes in the corporate procurement process and the eConsultant2 system it uses. In the spotlight this time: the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage.

Energy Sector Mission

The 11th of March we posted an article on our blog to make you aware of the upcoming Energy sector mission to the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Asian Development Bank and Millennium Challenge Corporation in Washington, DC from May 4 – 7, 2015.

The joint mission, involving companies from Canada, United States, Austria, France, Spain, the Netherlands and other countries is next week!

The theme of this energy mission is “Integrating Sustainable Energy in Global Development”. The mission is intended for private sector parties – both suppliers and consultants – interested in learning about business opportunities in the energy sector.

This is always a unique opportunity to network with companies and potential partners from around the world and at the same time learn about opportunities in the energy sector from the World Bank and other institutions. For those of you who can’t attend but might be interested in the next Energy Mission, we have attached the Energy Mission 2015 agenda.

Nigeria: World Bank Approves US$500 Million to Improve Maternal and Child Health, Achieve the ‘Saving One Million Lives’ Goal

Tender: Agribusiness specialist livestock – Kenya

Consultant for sea water desalination PPP project in Senegal

The Government of Senegal (GoS) is considering a public private partnership (PPP) to increase the provision of clean water supply in the country, through the development of a sea water desalination plant with a production capacity of up to 100,000 cubic meters per day (the Project). To that effect, GoS has requested the assistance of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to act as lead advisor for the Project.

The assignment will be executed in two main phases: 1) due diligence and transaction structuring; 2) tendering and selection of the private partner.
