eC2:Pre-Feasibility study for a financing facility to improve water utilities efficiency in the Danube River Basin Region

The World Bank ECA Water team is considering different options to support client countries in the development of special financing facilities for water utilities, with a focus on facilities extending targeted lending to utilities for increasing their operational efficiency directly impacting their financial situation. A regional, multi-country or national financing facility would aim to achieve the following objectives: i) provide financing for small investments resulting in efficiency improvements which can contribute to achieving long term sustainability of WSS services; ii) improve cost recovery and financial sustainability and utility creditworthiness; and iii) contribute to building up a commercial banking market for WSS utility lending by developing the skills of commercial banks to take municipal/utility risk. See attached TOR for further details. The Firm to be selected will undertake a feasibility study to support the design of such financing facility.

The objective of the assignment is to collect and analyze secondary quantitative data to establish the baseline situation of coffee and rice farmers based on indicators of the Vietnam Agri project. The consultant will implement the following main tasks: (1) collect data from secondary sources, including but not limited to project documents, client firms data provided by IFC, national data sets from the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, (2)conduct quantitative analysis of baseline values of key impact and outcome indicators of project result frameworks relating to coffee and rice farmers, particularly household income including income/sales revenue from coffee and rice, and income sources; (3) describe household demographic and socio-economic profile, coffee and rice farming and post harvest and storage practices to the extent that relevant data is available; and (4) provide gender disaggregated results to the extent that relevant data is available

The redevelopment strategy will build upon the existing infrastructure and tourism Afbeeldingsresultaat voor waterfront thessaloniki greeceassets in the area, which already draw many international and local visitors, despite lack of uninterrupted pedestrian access, limited amenities and few retail and food and beverage options along the length of the waterfront. The City would like to catalyze the redevelopment of various vacant and/or underutilized sites along the waterfront as a means to achieve social, economic and fiscal benefits. This demonstration project will be used to illustrate how social, fiscal and economic outcomes can be maximized through more coordinated planning and effective investment program prioritization.

eC2: National Student Assessment, Bangladesh

The National Student Assessment (NSA) 2011, 2013 and NSA 2015 assessed the learning for-better-early-childhood-care-and-education-in-sri-lankaachievement of the aforementioned pupils relative to the learning outcomes prescribed in the primary curriculum. Other objectives were: to investigate differences in pupil achievement by key system, school and pupil factors {e.g., division, district, school type, locality (urban v. rural), and gender}; to examine the relationships between achievement and factors such as school size, class size, pupil-teacher ratio, attendance rate, teachers’ qualifications and training, training of school managers, and frequency of inspection; and to draw implications for improvements in teaching and learning through enhanced policy actions, planning and management, and teacher education. It is expected that relevant Government of Bangladesh (GoB) line agencies will utilize the findings and recommendations in order to inform educational planning of sub-components such as teacher professional development and curriculum reform.

The activity aims to enhance climate resilience of the Kenya’s national road networkpicathrough:

  • Conducting vulnerability assessment of priority national road corridors;

  • Development of Guidelines for Climate Resilience Audit of road engineering designs;
  • Pilot climate resilience audit of a road engineering design.

The duration of the assignment is about 6 months.

Following the successful launch of the program in Nigeria in March 2015, a pan-Nigeria consumer education campaign commenced with the objective of increasing awareness and adoption of solar lighting products in Nigeria. An assessment of the impact of the campaign revealed growing awareness of solar lighting products. The Lighting Africa, Nigeria Program has observed the increasing importance of digital marketing as a vital piece in the communication mix and is now seeking a marketing firm to deliver a high-impact consumer education campaign that builds on initial digital activities and amplifies the ATL and BTL efforts to achieve accelerated behavior change and drive rapid sales of quality verified solar lighting products
