Approved project Pakistan: Sindh Irrigated Agriculture Productivity Enhancement Project

The Board of Directors of the World Bank approved the Sindh Irrigated Agriculture Productivity Enhancement Project on March 20, 2015. The project involves a total of $242 million, of which $187 million is provided by the IDA, and $55 million by the Government of Pakistan. The stated goal of the project is to ‘improve irrigation water management at tertiary and field levels in Sindh.’ This is to be achieved through the following four components:

1) Community Water Infrastructure Improvement ($120 million);
2) Promotion and Installation of High Efficiency Irrigation Systems ($66 million);
3) Improved Agriculture Practices ($24 million); and
4) Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Strategic Studies ($32 million).

Approved project: Punjab Rural Water and Sanitation Sector Improvement Project

On March 24, the World Bank Board of Directors approved the Punjab Rural Water and Sanitation Sector Improvement Project. As reported before, the project involves a total of $354 million, of which the borrower brings in $106 million, and the IBRD puts in $248 million. The goal of the project is ‘to improve water and sanitation service levels, reduce open defecation, and strengthen service delivery arrangements in targeted villages in Punjab’.

Under the supervision and guidance of an Advisory Services Task Team Lead or Delegate, the Individual Consultant will provide project management and client engagement support to agribusiness advisory projects in Côte d’Ivoire.

Lighting Africa, Kenya – Consumer Education

Lighting Kenya II is targeting deeper penetration in the remote, last mile market segment by engaging MFIs among other partners as a channel to reach unelectrified communities. Consumer education and specifically, below-the-line engagements such as consumer activations, stakeholder events and forums etc, designed to reach rural consumers and create behavioral change is a critical component for the program to achieve its objectives.

The scope of work will include to:

– Develop a clear BTL strategy and implementation plan for Lighting Africas experiential-driven consumer education campaign in Kenya;
– Provide recommendations for specific activities;
– Execute the plan and undertake regular reviews to align the plan with the dynamic environment.

Renewable Energy Self-Supply and Energy Efficiency Program – Chile

In May 2012, the Clean Tech Fund (CTF) Trust Fund Committee endorsed the Chile Investment Plan including Renewable Energy Self-Supply and Energy Efficiency Program (RESSEE), which IFC is under development with IDB. The objective of this consultancy is to identify and develop pilot projects so that local FIs could finance under the RESSEE program. Identification/development of pilot projects should be focused on one of target market segments; corporate segment targeting EE and self–supply RE for all kinds of business entities.
