Earlier this year the IFC proposed, and the
Board of Directors approved, an investment in the Dutch Afriflora Group. The agreement was signed on April 13, and the investment made a month later, on May 13, 2015. The investment consists of an IFC and MCPP senior secured €90 million (US$112 million equivalent) loan.

Data released by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, shows that Dutch investment bank FMO was the largest co-investor of the IFC in Fiscal Year 2014. Additionally, of the entire IFC portfolio, two of the five largest co-financiers were Dutch.
The IFC invests in private sector entities 
that are active in developing countries. However, as described in a previous blog post, the IFC’s share of the investment is typically no more than 25-35%. The remainder has to come from other investors. Continue reading

A Dutch consortium of government, companies, knowledge institutes and NGOs has joined forces to help Rio de Janeiro to structurally clean up their polluted Guanabara Bay. On 30 June a Dutch delegation presented the ‘Clean Urban Delta Initiative’ to the secretary for the environment of the State of Rio de Janeiro André Corrêa.

By partially providing funding for development costs, InfraV provides expertise in critical areas such as: (i) helping to create bankable project agreements; (ii) providing input on key technical studies and the offtake agreement; (iii) helping to negotiate key project agreements such as the power purchase, project development (concession) and EPC agreements; and (iv) guiding the consortium on completing Environmental and Social Impact Assessments compliant with good international practices such as those described in IFC Performance Standards, including timely and meaningful outreach and stakeholder engagement and consultation programs, adequate environmental and social pre-project baseline determination. PPIAF has supported the delivery of rapid needs assessments (RNA) for PPP enabling environments since 2011. The rapid support framework (RSF) expands on the support offered under the RNA activities and seeks to respond to increasing client government requests for just-in-time support and technical advice on PPP programs.
The objective of the Consulting Assignment is to assist client governments in developing and implementing their PPP programs. The assignment may include some or all of the following assistance for selected countries: i) conducting a rapid diagnostic of the PPP enabling environments to identify gaps impeding the development of PPP programs; ii) developing and prioritizing a PPP project pipeline; and iii) developing a business case for 1-2 pilot project(s).
