The Government of Egypt (GoE) is one of T&Cs current clients. The country has committed light-bulb-297489_640to improving and promoting energy efficiency driven by the energy security risks associated with the pressures from growing population and rising fuel demand on its finite fossil fuel supply. This shortage of traditional fuels poses a serious challenge to the industrial growth of Egypt. The industrial sector energy demand amounts to approximately one third of final energy production. Yet energy efficiency within industries is not adequately exploited due to high energy subsidies, the lack of an effective policy framework, weak environmental law enforcement, and the lack of availability of clean technologies in the local market, among other factors.

Tips on how to work with the World Bank Group

The World Bank Group project cycle takes years, getting involved in the proces requires a lot of patience; below a number of helpful tips:

  • Build a large network including all relevant stakeholders; local government project authority, (local) World Bank staff and offices, local business, and the Dutch embassies.
  • Follow projects and follow-up with (local) World Bank Staff on a regular basis.
  • Be patient and approach from a problem solving perspective within the country of execution.
  • If possible create a consortium with a local company in country of execution.
  • Maintain regular contact with local and federal government agencies discussing future projects.
  • Visit the World Bank Group HQ in Washington, D.C. with concrete deliverables and examples of executed projects.
  • When in Washington, D.C. be sure to be up to date on the recent developments concerning procurement, structure and general news.
  • Is something unclear? Don’t assume. Ask.

 

eC2:Tanzania-Procurement Value Chain Analysis

b) Conduct interviews with Bank staff, selected government agencies staff, consultants , suppliers and contractors to identify processes that are vulnerable to bottlenecks and/or redundant;
c) Explore the value added to efficiency, transparency and economy resultant from adherence to best practices/government/Bank procedures;

eC2: Developing a Roadmap for Improving Water Quality of Lake Toba, Indonesia

The Consultant will also facilitate a stakeholder process to agree on the roadmap for the improvement and preservation of the water quality in Lake Toba.

eC2: Scaling Solar – Technical, Environmental and Social Consultant

IFC has been retained as lead transaction advisor by Ethiopian Electric Power to procure scaling+solar+main+bannerthe development, construction and operation and maintenance of up to 500MW of utility scale solar PV projects on a PPP basis under the Scaling Solar Program (the Project).

As such, IFC is procuring a technical, environmental and social consulting firm to advise on the Project. The assignment will be split in to several phases and is expected to include:

Evaluation of a shortlist of potential sites; review of grid code and development of the PPA technical limits schedule; detailed site studies for selected sites, including ground investigations, grid integration studies and E&S scoping; and support to the tender process (e.g. tailoring of the technical and E&S content in the template transaction documents, prequalification evaluation, responding to bidders clarifications, bid evaluation, negotiation support).

Use of a local partner for ground investigations and local E&S expertise is recommended.

eConsultant2: Energy Access Household Survey in Liberia

The World Bank-ESMAP team is launching the first Global Energy Access Household AfricaSurveys in access deficit countries to set a baseline to track progress towards Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) goal and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 7 on access to affordable, reliable and sustainable modern energy by 2030.

A reputed firm with extensive experience in household surveys is sought to conduct the baseline survey on energy access and forecast of electricity demand in Liberia using the multi-tier framework approach to track progress towards SDG7 and SE4ALL goal. The survey will be nationally representative and administered to both urban and rural localities. The firm will work with the World Bank-ESMAP to pre-test, finalize and implement the survey. Data collection should be carefully monitored to ensure high quality information. After completing the fieldwork, the firm will deliver the final dataset and summary report to the World Bank-ESMAP. Additional details on the scope of work will be available in the Terms of Reference (TOR).
