WASHINGTON, October 25, 2016 – 
A record 137 economies around the world have adopted key reforms that make it easier to start and operate small and medium-sized businesses, says Doing Business 2017: Equal Opportunity for All, the World Bank Group’s annual report on the ease of doing business.
The new report finds that developing countries carried out more than 75 percent of the 283 reforms in the past year, with Sub-Saharan Africa accounting for over one-quarter of all reforms.

Consultant firms will be required to:
a) complete, under leadership of the World bank Task Team Leader, 12 Optima HIV modelling studies using both the allocative efficiency and cascade modelling approaches
b) Support the World Bank and country team in disseminating results of country analyses through academic publication, policy briefs and in-country dialogues
c) Follow up to assess actual changes in allocations
d) Undertake capacity building in Optima HIV
Jointly, these case studies will contribute economic, health impact and epidemiological evidence to the overarching question of improving the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of HIV responses in these countries and building the global evidence base for better allocative efficiency.

On Thursday September 15th the World Bank and the Government of Curaçao signed a Memorandum of 
Understanding (MoU) focused on strengthen the relations and promoting the exchange of knowledge and expertise in areas of mutual interest. The Country Director for the Caribbean at the World Bank Ms. Sophie Sirtaine came to Curaçao for the official signing ceremony. The Government of Curaçao was represented by the Minister Economic Development.
The Minister of Finance was also involved in the process to get to this MoU. Both ministers were happy this MoU was signed as it is an expression of Curaçao’s desire to establish meaningful working relationships with strategic international partners in support of Curaçao’s long term sustainable development goals.

Achieve 2030 Sustainable Development Goals
NAIROBI, Kenya, August 26, 2016—Today at the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-VI), African heads of state and partners vowed to accelerate progress toward universal health coverage (UHC) in Africa. To help countries implement their health reforms, the World Bank and the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria (Global Fund) committed to invest $24 billion in Africa over the next three to five years.
The Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) has introduced a new tool for small and medium sized enterprises (SME’s): business vouchers. Dutch SME’s can apply for a voucher, which they can use to purchase specific services from experienced consultants. It is a pilot project of the Dutch government, meant to complement the services the government already provides and to increase the competitiviness of Dutch SME’s when doing business with international organizations. The pilot runs until the end of 2016.
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, August 11, 2016 — IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, today announced the launch of a web portal to speed the development of mini-grids in Tanzania, helping the country boost its energy production and increase access to electricity through renewable sources such as solar and hydro.
The portal, found at http://www.minigrids.go.tz/, provides licensing, financing, regulatory, and other information and support to small, renewable power producers in Tanzania who want to sell electricity to consumers, especially to the millions in the country not connected to the main grid.

Is it hot outside? Should I bring an umbrella?
Most of us don’t think much beyond these questions when we check the weather report on a typical day. But weather information plays a much more critical role than providing intel on whether to take an umbrella or use sunscreen. It can help manage the effects of climate change, prevent economic losses and save lives when extreme weather hits.
During the second IDA18 replenishment meeting in Nay Pyi Taw, I visited the Myanmar Department of Meteorology and Hydrology’s Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center to see how funding from IDA, the World Bank’s fund for the poorest, is helping the country modernize its systems for observing and forecasting weather through the Ayeyarwady Integrated River Basin Management Project.
