The Scope of Services and Responsibilities

1. Collect data from agricultural producers (farmers and aggregators) on fruits, vegetables and dairy in the project areas in Kyrgyzstan (with focus on dairy in Issyk Kul region), Tajikistan and Uzbekistan;
2. Analyze the existing situation with farmers on their available resources (land, crops, machinery, equipment, inputs, supply, finance, etc);
3. Map existing management practices and processes (planting, harvesting, storage, feeding, milking, housing, etc.), determine advantages and disadvantages in each practice and process;
4. Conduct market and field research to identify alternative, economically advantageous management options;
5. Analyze the economics of proposed management and production options;
6. Together with the team of international and local consultants, test proposed management options under the local conditions for the economic viability that would lead to the reduced cost and increased output;
7. Source alternative suppliers of inputs, equipment and machinery available in the market;
8. Monitor implementation process and undertake necessary actions to gain results;
9. Work with team of international and local consultants to coordinate research and recommendations;

eConsultant2: Feasibility study of PV hybridization of diesel-based mini-grids in Niger

The assignment output is expected to inform the Government of Niger, NIGELEC and the AfricaWorld Bank for the design of a World Bank-financed project component that aims to hybridize with PV and expand access to electricity in some of the existing micro-grids (centres isolés) operated by NIGELEC in throughout Niger.
The selected consultant firm will conduct a phased feasibility study of the potential options for hybridization and expanding access to electricity (households, businesses, etc.) of these mini-grids. Options for hybridization may include PV and options for storage capacity during night hours (batteries or diesel). After a first screening of the potential of the mini-grids to be hybridized and agreed technology option, the Consultant will conduct the feasibility studies (including demand assessments) of the selected mini-grids.

These solutions will inform the future development of a comprehensive and integrated sanitation master plan for the whole city. The present assignment is divided into two (2) components as follows: Component 1: Updated diagnostics and preliminary recommendations at city level and in low income areas; and, Component 2: Detailed pilot project design in selected areas.

The analysis is intended to provide critical information on how many health workers by medical-appointment-doctor-healthcare-clinic-health-hospital-medicine[7]cadre are required to cope with the workload of a given health facility and catchment area, as well as to assess the workload pressure of the health workers in that facility. This data collection will not only occur in the facilities themselves but also in the catchment areas where the facilities are located. The WISN data collection in the catchment areas will seek to document the roles of community-based and volunteer workers delivering HIV prevention and treatment services and detail how that links to broader primary care delivery efforts in the respective regions.

T&C is currently in the process of developing a set of learning materials and tools that willAgrabusiness-Story-Banner help World Bank Task Team Leaders (TTLs) with designing and implementing agribusiness SME projects. Over the past few years, key insights on the topic have been gained from field-based implementations, research and dialogue internally and externally to the WBG. T&C is therefore currently seeking to develop 1) a diagnostic framework to identify the opportunities for- , and challenges and needs of SMEs in the agribusiness sector; 2) a training module on agribusiness SME development, 3) a business modeling toolkit for Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Centers (AECs); and 4) an Operational Manual for AECs. While deliverables 1 and 2 will focus broadly on agribusiness SMEs outside the farm gate, deliverables 3 and 4 will focus on agro-processing primarily food processing SMEs specifically.
