This study will provide the Karachi Water and Sanitation Board (KWSB) with strategic guidance by comparing different approaches to augmenting water supply for the rapidly growing city of Karachi. A particular focus will be on attracting private sector participation in service provision.

The scope of the study will include: (i) reviewing existing research on future raw water supplies in Karachi and defining KWSBs service territory; (ii) developing options for sequencing future water supply sources, with a view to promoting private sector participation in the sector; and (iii) reviewing the enabling environment for Private Sector Participation (PSP).

The World Bank is currently working with Saint Lucia (SLU) and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in the Caribbean to help improve the resilience of the power systems of these two countries to extreme weather events that will become more severe due to climate change. The World Bank will offer similar support to three other OECS countries afterwards. These Terms of Reference (TOR) are for a Power System Engineering Consulting Firm to support the World Bank energy team by conducting an assessment of the impacts of past storms (2 -3) on the power systems of SLU, SVG, St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN), and Antigua and Barbuda (A&B), identifying key risks and vulnerabilities, and offering energy resilience enhancement recommendations associated with utility power generation assets as well as transmission and distribution systems. The consulting firm will also develop an investment plan with the estimated cost of these recommended measures.

eC2: Program Advisory for Hybrid Annuity Waste Water Projects under Namami Gange

IFC is looking to appoint a technical advisor to assist it in the technical aspects of the Ganges_Indiafollowing tasks: i) Component 1 – Provide meta advisory support for on-going hybrid annuity transactions being undertaken by different commercial transaction advisors in 13 cities, where IFC will provide overall quality assurance and supervisory support in such projects. Of these, inputs for project preparation will be required in 5 projects.
ii) Component 2 Provide transaction advisory for two cities, Agra and Lucknow. IFC will structure a viable and bankable project structure and provide assistance to NMCG and state level executing agency in the selection of private sector developer(s) for both cities in a transparent and competitive bidding process.
iii) Component 3 – Extend post-transaction advisory support for 18 hybrid annuity projects, for a period of two years post award. This includes 3 awarded projects in Varanasi, Haridwar and Mathura; 13 on-going projects referenced in (i) above and; two proposed projects in Agra and Lucknow referenced in (ii) above.

eC2: Design of a National Registry System to Support Cost-Effective Greenhouse Gas Reductions in Sri Lanka

A carbon registry is required to perform two basic functions (i) determine the quantity of index carbon units held by account holders and (ii) enable the exchange of carbon units between account holders. with the support from the Partnership for Market Readiness (PMR), the Government of Sri Lanka aims to design a national registry system for recording project or mitigation action details, registration and approval, reporting of monitoring data, and the transactional features of carbon units. The registry is an essential tool through which the success of the mechanism will be measured and improved. It will be used for all reporting, collecting, and checking purposes, storing compliance data and identifying any cases of enforcement. It will also track the emissions and trading activity for registered users over the life of a particular scheme.

The Government of the Papua New Guinea has requested IFC to assist the Papua New780-439-amrcapture Guinea Treasury and the Western Highlands Provincial Health Authority, to assess the potential to develop, finance, upgrade, operate and maintain the Mt Hagen Hospital under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) transaction (The Project).

The objective of the PPP is to enhance the infrastructure and operations and maintenance at Mt Hagen Hospital, to improve the delivery of health care services at the Hospital. The Project will focus on addressing the infrastructure requirements stemming from underinvestment and lack of adequate maintenance programs, and the potential to include non-clinical and some selected clinical services in the scope of the Project.

IFC is seeking the services of a qualified legal consultant to support its transaction advisory team on developing and implementing the tender for this project.
