The consultant will work to look in depth at the cotton-apparel value chain to identify potential obstacles to greater growth. Depending on the location of the main economic activities throughout the value chain, the analysis may focus on specific geographic areas. The selected consultants will be expected to carry out a detailed mapping of the actors in the different links of the value chains. The instruments to be administered by the firm will further cover firm dynamics; costs, productivity, and jobs (scale and skills demanded); and barriers to competitiveness, value chain deepening, and job creation at each stage. In addition, the instruments will cover cross-cutting issues such as the costs of trade, as well as labor market rigidity and costs, and education and skills.

eC2:Implementation of Childcare Intervention Project in the DRC

The project will set up and manage 90 community-based childcare centers in 90 randomly selected villages in the province of Kongo Central. At least 1260 women with children aged one to five will be recruited in the villages to participate to the project. The intervention will be implemented in close coordination with the Western Growth Poles project and will be evaluated a through randomized control trial. Working under the supervision of the WB, the selected firm will be expected to (i) successfully set up and manage the community-based childcare centers, (ii) work in close collaboration with the Ministry of education, SNV and all the stakeholders, (iii) collaborate with the GIL on the impact evaluation of the intervention.

The objectives of this assignment are to: i) carry out a Landslide Vulnerability Assessment; ii) identify the policy, legal and institutional constraints in resettlement of vulnerable people and recommend improvements; iii) develop operational procedures and manuals for efficient planning and execution of a national program for landslide risk mitigation including resettlement of people living in high risk areas; and iv) based on the above outcomes, develop a time bound, implementable Community Landslides Risk Mitigation Action Plan.The Government intends to develop an investment proposal for landslides risk mitigation and seek funds from donors to support the program. A secondary objective of this assignment is to produce data, knowledge, and materials required for preparing of such proposal.

eC2: Scaling Solar – Technical, Environmental and Social Consultant

IFC has been retained as lead transaction advisor by Ethiopian Electric Power to procure scaling+solar+main+bannerthe development, construction and operation and maintenance of up to 500MW of utility scale solar PV projects on a PPP basis under the Scaling Solar Program (the Project).

As such, IFC is procuring a technical, environmental and social consulting firm to advise on the Project. The assignment will be split in to several phases and is expected to include:

Evaluation of a shortlist of potential sites; review of grid code and development of the PPA technical limits schedule; detailed site studies for selected sites, including ground investigations, grid integration studies and E&S scoping; and support to the tender process (e.g. tailoring of the technical and E&S content in the template transaction documents, prequalification evaluation, responding to bidders clarifications, bid evaluation, negotiation support).

Use of a local partner for ground investigations and local E&S expertise is recommended.
