econsultant2: Private health markets analysis in East Asia

The purpose of the study is to assess the Hospitalnature of private health markets and identify private sector players and opportunities in Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines. In addition to a detailed analysis of private health markets, the study also includes a mapping of the main private sector players, including hospitals, diagnostics, primary care providers, medical technology and equipment, pharmaceuticals and long-term elderly care.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and the IFC have recently established a research platform to support private sector analysis in developing economies in East Asia and the Pacific. DFAT and IFC recognize the need to better understand the role of the private health markets in East Asia and to identify opportunities to support private sector projects that deliver developmental impact and reach low-income segments.

eConsultant2: World Bank looking for 2 Port Planning Experts

To strengthen national and international connectivity, Indonesia also prepared a National Port Master Plan (NPMP 2011). The NPMPs’ traffic forecast for the 2030 horizon shows that Indonesia’s container traffic will be doubled by 2020, and will quadruple by 2030. This will require capacity expansion and new port facilities development in many locations, especially in Eastern Indonesia.

reviewing the engineering designs of about 15 ports to be financed with Bank funds. This will include the civil works and the hydrological/geotechnical aspects, such as studies on tides, wave actions, sedimentation, capital/maintenance dredging requirements, coastal-river morphology, dredging solutions, settlement speed of reclaimed areas, berth structure, optimum yard areas paving system (blocks, vs. asphalt vs. concrete slabs), etc.

Discussing Green Growth at the Indonesia Green Infrastructure Summit

LED Street Lighting Retrofit Project in Surabaya, Indonesia

Street lighting retrofit with energy efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology in Surabaya offers a significant energy and cost savings potential for the city government. Under the Sustainable Energy and Emissions Planning or SUEEP Program (http://elibrary.worldbank.org/doi/pdf/10.1596/978-0-8213-9837-1) the World Bank is supporting a program of technical assistance in introducing a private sector company in the street lighting system of a major city in Indonesia through a public-private partnership (PPP) arrangement.

The scope of the project is to identify an international Technical Consultant (Consultant) who will be responsible to assess independently the feasibility of performing a pilot demonstration of replacing inefficient street lighting lamps with modern efficient LED lamps (Pilot) in Surabaya on a sample basis in order to demonstrate the energy savings, emissions reduction and financial benefits that may be realized by the City Government of Surabaya (CGS) should they pursue the project.

This project is financed under the ESMAP (Energy Sector Management Assistance Program) Trust Fund. The consultant will be an individual.
