IFC is seeking a firm to support an advisory project in the Rwenzori region of Uganda that will complement an IFC investment transaction. The advisory project will support smallholder farmers to improve coffee production and productivity through the sustained adoption and application of good agronomic practices and enable the Client and its partners to improve the sourcing capacity of high-quality coffee. IFC is therefore seeking a vendor firm to deliver a gender capacity building program [Training of Trainers] to a team of agronomists/field in each of the origin using a transformative change methodology. The training on the gender transformative approach will be delivered by a vendor firm and will target:
up to 23 trainees in Uganda
up to 7 trainees in Zimbabwe

Rebuilding communities after disasters – four and a half lessons learned

The death toll from Cyclone Idai that ripped into Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and Malawi in IDAI Aftermath - A man fixes the roof of his house in Praia NovaMarch 2019 is now above 1,000, with damages estimated at $2 billion. In 2018, more than 10,000 people lost their lives in disasters (with $225 billion of economic losses). Approximately 79 percent of fatalities occurred in the Asia Pacific region, including the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami in Indonesia’s Sulawesi Island. In fact, 2017 and 2018 have been estimated as the most expensive back-to-back years for weather disasters, totaling $653 billion of losses.

eC2:Endline data collection for estimating the efficiency gains made through the integration of HIV and Reproductive Services in Zimbabwe

The impact evaluation aims to answer the evaluation question: Does integrating HIV and SRH services reduce costs of service provision without compromising quality of patient care? The evaluation focuses on integration of HIV and SRH services at the primary health care level, district/mission, provincial and central hospital level within three different packages of service provision: integrating HIV services into 1) family planning and 2) antenatal care clinics, and 3) integrating SRH services into ART clinics.

Strengthening smallholder supply chains for soy and poultry in Zimbabwe

Over the medium term, IFC may seek investment opportunities in the animal protein sector in Zimbabwe.

This program will lay the groundwork for investment by strengthening soy and poultry supply chains in three ways: 1) increasing productivity through training; 2) increasing access to inputs and 3) farmer aggregation.

Cost effective training methodologies utilizing ICTs are encouraged. Access to inputs could be increased through outgrower programs linked to private sector companies or linkages to financial services (the program cannot purchase inputs, beyond those required for demonstration).
