For Steps 2, 3, and 4 (intervention zone of the World Bank-funded project): The study will cover the irrigation schemes of Northern Tunisia located in the Governorates of Siliana, Jendouba, Béja, and Bizerte. The Irrigation Schemes planned under the 2016-2020 development plan will be considered for the forecasting of the business development of the entity in charge of the selected management arrangements in the Governorates covered by the project. The study area includes the Public Irrigation Schemes benefiting from the “Irrigated Agriculture Intensification Project” proposed for funding to the World Bank and located in the Governorates mentioned above.

Global Cooperation through Carbon Markets Could Cut Climate Mitigation Costs Dramatically: New World Bank Report

HANOI, Vietnam, October 18—Greater cooperation through carbon trading could reduce the cost of climate change mitigation by 32 percent by 2030, according to a new World Bank report released today at an international carbon event in Vietnam.

New modelling analysis undertaken for the State and Trends of Carbon Pricing 2016 report shows that increased international carbon trading could enable large-scale emissions reductions at much lower cost than at present, based on the carbon mitigation goals spelled out in countries’ national climate plans under the Paris Agreement — the Nationally Determined Contributions, or NDCs.  By the middle of the century, an international market has the potential to reduce global mitigation costs by more than 50 percent.

IFC through its Advisory Services activities is working in PNG to improve the income of the lead firm linked small holder farmers by improving farmer access to technology, markets, finance and information.

IFC will work with a distributor(the Client)who is a new entrant to the fresh produce supply chain. Working with the client to build its capacity in fresh produce supply is envisaged to improve opportunities for farmers, particularly women farmers in the highlands to access markets in Port Moresby through the deployment of extension training, improved access to inputs and access to information. IFC work with the client to build its internal fresh produce supply chain and logistics capacity and link the farmers to markets in Port Moresby. The objective of the consultancy service is to establish safeguard framework documents; an Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) and Resettlement Framework Policy (RPF) for facilitating the development of small hydro (<20MW) in Madagascar as part of a technical assistance project being implemented by World Bank in Madagascar which aims at supporting the development of small hydro IPPs with private sector. It is being undertaken in close coordination with JIRAMA, ORE and ADER, Government of Madagascar, the World Banks primary Client country counterpart for this project. The project is funded by the AFREA under the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), a global knowledge and technical assistance program administered by the World Bank and supported by 11 bilateral donors.

eC2: Myanmar – National Multi-Tier framework Energy Access Household Energy Survey

A reputed firm with extensive experience in household surveys and, preferably, expertise on energy sector including on-grid and off-grid solutions including mini-grid is sought to conduct the household, community/facility, and mini-grid operator survey to establish the baseline on energy access in the Myanmar using the multi-tier framework approach to track progress towards SDG7 and SE4ALL goal. The survey will be nationally representative and administered to both urban and rural localities. The firm will work with the World Bank-ESMAP to pre-test, finalize and implement the survey. Data collection should be carefully monitored to ensure high quality information. After completing the fieldwork, the firm will deliver the final dataset and summary report to the World Bank-ESMAP. Additional details on the scope of work will be available in the Terms of Reference (TOR).
