The World Bank Group (WBG) invites interested parties to respond to a Request for Information (RFI) for distributed ledger technology or blockchain services. Through this RFI, WBG intends to identify parties that want to work on hands-on activities to discover and explore the possibilities of distributed ledger technology and / or blockchain services in the context of the world’s most pressing development challenges. Through this collaboration, WBG is providing an opportunity for interested parties to shape their own roadmaps with respect to these technologies and services by working with a large, mature, international organization.

eC2: Zambia – Off-grid site identification and prioritization

Objective: The proposed activity seeks to first develop new datasets that will enable the identification and prioritization of potential off-grid sites, and faster and more accurate market analysis for public and private stakeholders operating in Zambia. Datasets should include, for example, household locations and indicators on ability to pay, population density and proximity to the national grid, potential for productive uses of electricity and up-to-date data on national electricity grid transmission and distribution line locations. It is expected that these datasets then be used to narrow down geographic areas and priority villages that could be interesting markets for off-grid energy services.

Annual Meetings 2017: join the World Bank Live!

Next week, the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) take place from upcoming October 10 to October 14  in Washington DC. During this meetings the Board of Governs of the attentive organizations will debate in the field of topics associated with poverty reduction, international economic development and finance.

eC2: Firm to support the evaluation and identification of pipeline of cities for structuring PPPs for public street lighting in Brazil

Objective: The World Bank is seeking a consultant/firm to conduct pre-feasibility studies for an initial pipeline of cities that may be interested in developing PPPs. The goal of this work will be to identify approximately 10 cities that are ready to move the phase of a full feasibility study and structuring of a PPP with WBG and CEF support. The consultant will be asked to avail of the research and tools already conducted by the World Bank in this sector, including inter alia the pre-feasibility studies from Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, the Lighting Brazilian Cities report, and the CityLED Tool. The consultant will also be asked to make use of public information about the cities to be studied.

Announcing funding for 10 Development Data Innovation projects
