The proposed program of interventions on and around Lake Victoria are expected to Image result for lake victoriacontribute to improve transport connectivity and sustainability. Whilst local impacts are identified and addressed in site specific ESIA, the lake ecosystem is large, complex, multi-dimensional and dynamic. Understanding the social and environmental issues thus requires comprehensive observation and management at the catchment scale in a holistic manner. Given the wider scope of the interventions on the Lake Victoria basin (both at the ports, but also with the lake itself), with knock-on or cumulative effects on the lakes overall catchment area, a strategic planning framework for the development and protection of the lake, its dependents, and associated infrastructure is critically important. This assignment is designed to support the LVBC do that.

IFC will hire the services of specialist consultants to support the IFC Project Team in delivering the advisory mandate, which is currently under negotiation. The IFC is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) at this early stage to ensure timely appointment of technical consultants. The RFP will be issued once the mandate has been signed with the Government of Malawi. The assignment will be to provide technical support to the IFC team in undertaking this transaction advisory project. The transaction advisory will be implemented in phases: Phase 1 to update and refine the due diligence that was previously undertaken and to revise the Transaction Structure. Phase 2 will be the implementation of the transaction including preparation of necessary tender documents and supporting the full procurement process.

The WBG supported Ethiopia Investment Climate Program aims to scale up support for policies, institutions, and catalytic initiatives that stimulate trade, increase access to markets, improve the investment climate, promote competitiveness, and foster innovation and entrepreneurship. Within their mandate, sub-national regionals regions or regional states can address the myriad investment-service related problems and proactively promote their respective Region as competitive investment destination. Support in this area could include the following: (a) Assisting and guiding companies already located or considering locating in regions; (b) Improving subnational regulation for doing business. The initial focus of the program will be the on Amhara Regional State.
The objective of this consultancy is to support the State of Amhara to develop a regional investment promotion strategy and engage public and private leaders to accelerate the growth of investment and jobs in the region.

eC2: Special Areas and Artistic Lighting Consultant for Street Lighting PPP in Rio de Janeiro

IFC has been mandated by the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, through its Secretary of Services, to provide lead transaction advice on the implementation of a PPP to expand, refurbish, maintain the current lighting stock with modern lighting technology and build and implement a centralized OCC. The project is expected to improve public lighting services to the population, generate energy savings (and thereby avoided GHG emissions) and support the improvement of public safety. IFC is looking to hire a consultant to provide support on the development of the PPP throughout the main phases of the advisory process: Phase I(Structuring) and Phase II(Procurement).
The main objective of this assignment shall be to support IFC in the analysis and selection of urban patrimony and special areas within the city and to develop projects and guidelines to be implemented in these areas.
