eC2: Mapping and prioritization of hydropower resources in the Democratic Republic of Congo

The objective of this activity is to inform the Government of DRC (GoDRC)s plan to develop its vast and untapped hydropower resources. The activity will (i) assess and map geospatially DRCs hydropower resources; (ii) rank small, medium, and large green field hydropower sites based on technical and economic considerations; (iii) provide narrowed/priority lists of sites by category, with a focus on mid-size sites (10 100 MW), and based on multi-criteria analysis jointly identified with the Government and the World Bank; (iv) provide in-country advice and training to enable stakeholders to participate in the production, maintenance and future enrichment of the database and related information created and (v) offer practical advice for implementation of priority site development. The priority lists and implementation advice will form practical guidance based on which the GoDRC will launch prefeasibility or feasibility studies of selected medium size hydropower sites funded separately under IDA resources.

eC2: Lao National Consultant: Hydro Advisory

The purpose of the assignment will be for a Lao National Consultant to assist with program support, implementation of activities, and communication. IFC is seeking to strengthen its hydro advisory team through the recruitment of a Lao National Short-Term Consultant (STC) to be based at IFCs Lao office in Vientiane. The STC will report to the Hydro Advisory Team Leader who is based in Yangon, Myanmar.

eC2: Advisory services for the development of a 225 MW Nepal hydro project

IFC Advisory hopes to sign soon an agreement to assist in the development of a 225 MW private hydro project in Nepal. The project is still at the prefeasibility level. The detailed project feasibility study will start sometimes in the spring. IFC Advisory will retain Consultants who will be included in a Panel of expert to review various milestone reports. The Consultant will also be performing certain other tasks. The project is quite challenging, being located at high altitude with no road construction for head works and more than 1400m of head. The assignment should last approximately 14 months

Technical Consultant: Philippines Hydro Power Projects Business Case

Each Business Case would identify any major technical/operational, legal, environmental and social issues, including options to address such issues, and improve operations; define the scope and possible privatization structure of each Project; test these for financial viability and the corresponding impact on valuation and stranded debt/costs, and identify the legal, regulatory and policy framework applicable for the privatization of each Project. Each Business Case will be developed with a view to determine the general terms and conditions under which a privatization would be viable.
