eC2:Madagascar: Preparation of safeguard framework for facilitating the development of small hydro IPPs

The objective of the consultancy service is to establish safeguard framework documents; an Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF) and Resettlement Framework Policy (RPF) for facilitating the development of small hydro (<20MW) in Madagascar as part of a technical assistance project being implemented by World Bank in Madagascar which aims at supporting the development of small hydro IPPs with private sector. It is being undertaken in close coordination with JIRAMA, ORE and ADER, Government of Madagascar, the World Banks primary Client country counterpart for this project. The project is funded by the AFREA under the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), a global knowledge and technical assistance program administered by the World Bank and supported by 11 bilateral donors.

eC2: Myanmar – National Multi-Tier framework Energy Access Household Energy Survey

A reputed firm with extensive experience in household surveys and, preferably, expertise on energy sector including on-grid and off-grid solutions including mini-grid is sought to conduct the household, community/facility, and mini-grid operator survey to establish the baseline on energy access in the Myanmar using the multi-tier framework approach to track progress towards SDG7 and SE4ALL goal. The survey will be nationally representative and administered to both urban and rural localities. The firm will work with the World Bank-ESMAP to pre-test, finalize and implement the survey. Data collection should be carefully monitored to ensure high quality information. After completing the fieldwork, the firm will deliver the final dataset and summary report to the World Bank-ESMAP. Additional details on the scope of work will be available in the Terms of Reference (TOR).

eC2: LNG import terminal PPP – Technical Consultant

Deadline: 25-Oct-2016 at 11:59:59 PM (Eastern Time – Washington D.C.)

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is in discussions with governments in the East and South Asia region, including Government of Sri Lanka, and Government of Myanmar, to act as Lead Transaction Advisor in assisting in the development of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) import terminal infrastructure, under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model (the Project). IFC seeks to appoint Technical Consultant(s) to assist in technical due diligence for the proposed project(s) including determination of demand assessment, LNG procurement strategy, site assessments, preliminary project design and costing, environment and social scoping studies, and other technical inputs to contract design and bid process.

World Bank-IMF Annual Meetings 2016 Development Committee Communiqué

Press Release; October 8th, 2016

1. The Development Committee met today, October 8, in Washington, D.C.

2. Global economic growth remains sluggish in 2016, with only a modest pick-up expected in 2017. Demand has remained soft despite highly stimulative monetary policies, foreign direct investment to developing countries has decreased, commodity exporters are adjusting to declines in exports, and wider geopolitical and economic uncertainties are weighing on confidence. We call on the World Bank Group (WBG) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to work jointly with countries to enhance synergy among monetary, fiscal and structural reform policies, stimulate growth, create jobs, and strengthen the gains from multilateralism for all.
