The consulting services requested under this assignment include:
– Review existing geospatial data for the city of Abidjan, available under an ODBL-compatible license; consolidate and conflate all geospatial layers in OpenStreetMap;
– Organize and conduct community mapping campaigns to record baseline information in flood risk areas of Abidjan;
– Capture videos and photos of OpenStreetMap data collection activities, that will be used as promotional and educational material;
– Provide training to different groups of people from the academia, government departments and the local OpenStreetMap community on the use of mapping software and field data collection tools.

eC2: Recruitment of consulting firm to develop business case for improving primary healthcare services and expanding the role of the private sector in delivering health services in Edo State.

The proposed Primary Care Transformation Project in Edo State (the Project) aims to (i) identify the constraints and gaps for the effective delivery of PHC services in Edo State, (ii) outline the project development and funding requirements to address these constraints, (iii) explore potential partnerships with innovative private sector players to overcome these constraints, and (iv) create an implementable and bankable private sector solution for the Edo State. IFC will be considering supporting such solution through (i) further advisory on the design on the specific PPP model; (ii) financing the mechanism through direct lending to Edo State and/or the private company.
The Project will provide a detailed assessment of the current state of the health sector delivery with a specific focus on PHC, create means for pub/pvt dialogues to disseminate and discuss the findings, exploring private or PPP projects to increase availability, affordability and quality of PHC servies.

eC2: Technology Innovations in Industrial Decarbonization in Developing Countries – Scoping Study

The goal of the proposed assignment is, in cooperation with the World Banks Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP) team, to produce a comprehensive report on innovative technological solutions for decarbonizing industries in World Bank Group client countries. The report should present the existing innovative solutions for decarbonizing the industrial sector that are on different technology readiness levels (TRL), starting with TRL 3, and show how the WBG operations teams can use those solutions and in which sectors. The report should focus on solutions that have a high green-house gas emissions abatement potential and high scalability in developing countries. For the identified technologies the report should address present costs and any other barriers to deployment, examples of policies/regulations could foster adoption, and experiences from strategies for moving up TRLs. Prospects for future costs decreases also need to be included.

3 Validation of the classification system for the assessment of the ecological status/potential for the types of lakes, reservoirs and development the classification system for transitional waters of lake types L7, L8, L9, and L10.
4 Identification and assessment of the interrelation: anthropogenic pressure-impact-biotic response.
5 Determination of the capacity of water bodies to assimilate nutrient pollution.
6 Finalizing and validation of the classification system for assessment of the ecological status/ecological potential of all national types of surface water bodies.

Strategy for Fragility, Conflict and Violence (FCV)

The World Bank Group is developing its first strategy for Fragility, Conflict and Violence fragilityforum_logo(FCV). The overarching objective of the strategy is to address the drivers of FCV in affected countries and their impact on vulnerable populations, with the ultimate goal of contributing to peace and prosperity. The final strategy will seek to guide and systematize the World Bank Group’s work in FCV contexts over the next five years.

eC2: Development of the Urban Nature-Based Solutions Rapid Assessment Tool

The Urban NBS Rapid Assessment will facilitate World Bank task teams in these challenges. The tool or assessment methodology will increase understanding of the performance of urban NBS and helps to identify potential investments in NBS in cities. The tool can be used in the early (pre-feasibility) stage of a project, to support dialogue with client countries and during community consultations, rather than as a design tool. The main audience of the tool will be city governments, project leaders and development partners, who will be investing in urban development interventions.

Newsletter December 2019: Energy for Development

The newsletter ‘Energy for Development ‘headlines with why the Business Opportunities Fair (BOF) with a focus on climate-smart energy was a success for Dutch company BladeRunner Energy. The BOF was co-hosted by the World Bank Group Liaison officers took place in Washington, D.C. | October 29-31. BladeRunner did not have any previous experience with the World Bank Group or any other IFI before having attended this event, which had over 160 participants from around the world. At the end of the 2.5-day program BladeRunner Energy CEO Paul Vosbeek left with a stack of business cards, new potential investors/partners and a comprehensive plan on how to approach not only the World Bank Group but also other IFIs. For those who were not able to attend we have shared a Business Opportunities Fair recap as well as the presentations.
