Juan and his family fled their home during Peru’s 1995 insurgency. Like many other 
Peruvians, they left behind all of their possessions, including their IDs and other documents. Without an ID, Juan—along with 3 million other Peruvians whose civil registration records were lost or destroyed during this period—was unable to enroll in school or access basic social services.
Mariam, a cross border trader from Uganda, struggled to earn a livelihood because of the difficulty she faced in crossing the border to buy and sell goods in Kenya. Without the necessary IDs, she could not pass through regular border crossings and was forced to travel long distances in dangerous areas that left her vulnerable to theft and exploitation.

The objective of the project is to support the SMEs in Cote d’Ivoire to effectively participate in the on-going procurement reform and win more procurement contracts through a transparent and competitive process. The winning firm is expected to design and roll out a training program to train SMEs, in coordination with the authority. This consultancy has two main objectives: (i) elaborate green infrastructure solutions to mitigate the impact of flooding in precarious urban neighborhoods; and (ii) develop disaster evacuation planning and design strategies based on access to on-site refuges and evacuation routes to protected sites to improve the resilience of populations. The overall objective of the technical assistance is to strengthen urban resilience in Antananarivo through targeted analytical interventions in urban planning and disaster risk management that will be leveraged through the ongoing investment operation. The main beneficiaries from the planned activities are the 650,000 poorest and most flood-prone inhabitants of Antananarivo living in high risk areas, that are targeted in the PRODUIR project. Objectives of this assignment: This assignment will be undertaken in three to four states (yet to be identified ) and the main objectives of this assignment are a) Examine the value proposition and associated business cases for BESS in distribution and intra-state transmission system for current conditions and then under a range of scenarios over the next 5 years. b) Identify the technical, economic, and regulatory conditions that would realize the potential role of BESS in distribution and intra-state transmission systems in the selected states c) Identify high potential immediate applications [along with sizing/ location/ business model details] for BESS in current conditions at the transmission and distribution levels in the selected states; d) Prepare model documents for implementation of the identified BESS project at intra-state transmission and distribution level.
Can Africa feed Africa? This question is frequently asked, especially when there are 256
million people (1 in 5) in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) who are critically undernourished. And the numbers are growing. Escalating weather volatility due to climate change further exacerbate food and nutrition insecurity. Frequent droughts and floods are triggering a food crisis in at least one or more countries every year, demanding emergency responses.
