eConsultant2: Environmental & Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) of the Semeikhon Riverside Port Project in Myanmar

This greenfield project will be developed by MMID. IFC, through its proposed equity participation in this InfraVentures project, will play the role of co-developer. SMP is located India buildingalong the bank of Ayeyarwady River, around 70 km from Mandalay city in Myanmar. MMID is also the developer of Myotha Industrial Park (MIP), a greenfield 10,000 acre mixed-used Industrial Zone.The land footprint of SMP (all phases) is about 152 hectares with an expected quay length of 1,500 meters. SMP will be developed in phases as container port traffic builds up over time.

a. Half-a-day events with an introductory session on EDGE & IFCs Green Building program (details to be shared at RFP stage)
b. Presentations by selected recognized architects/engineers/designers
(b) Knowledge exchange events at major universities in the same 5 cities
(c) Organise a national program with architecture, mechanical engineering and design students and leading architecture, MEP and design firms towards the goal of setting up an internship and career development opportunity for students. Support IFC in creating and managing the program.

Mr. Berroa shed alight on the Bank’s new procurement strategy. Monday November 30th, the Netherlands Embassy in Washington DC organized the third IMG_1937annual World Bank luncheon. The Dutch private sector, World Bank Group Staff, the Dutch Executive Director’s office and Embassy staff came together to talk about the changes to the procurement rules and doing business with the World Bank. Speeches were given by the Dutch Ambassador to the US, Henne Schuwer, the Executive Director to the World Bank Group Mr. Frank Heemskerk followed by a presentation by lead procurement Specialist of the World Bank Mr. Diomedes Berroa.
