Assignment Description: The objective of this Consultancy is to conduct a diagnostic of existing inclusive education resource centers in cluster centre mainstream schools of Ethiopia. The specific objectives of this Consultancy include the following: Make a diagnostic of existing IERCs and identify cost-effective, scalable and sustainable options for transformation of cluster center schools into inclusive education resource centers; Based on the findings, map out implementation plan for scale-up of IERCs under Ethiopia General Education Quality Improvement Program for Equity [i.e. creation of 700 IERCs in cluster center mainstream schools which are to serve about 3,400 mainstream schools in the clusters];  Design M&E arrangements to help track investments and assess performance of resource centers in relation to provision of inclusive education in mainstream schools.

eC2: Building Energy Resilient Power Systems in the Caribbean

The World Bank is currently working with Saint Lucia (SLU) and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) in the Caribbean to help improve the resilience of the power systems of these two countries to extreme weather events that will become more severe due to climate change. The World Bank will offer similar support to three other OECS countries afterwards. These Terms of Reference (TOR) are for a Power System Engineering Consulting Firm to support the World Bank energy team by conducting an assessment of the impacts of past storms (2 -3) on the power systems of SLU, SVG, St. Kitts and Nevis (SKN), and Antigua and Barbuda (A&B), identifying key risks and vulnerabilities, and offering energy resilience enhancement recommendations associated with utility power generation assets as well as transmission and distribution systems. The consulting firm will also develop an investment plan with the estimated cost of these recommended measures.

How can Indonesia achieve a more sustainable transport system?

Indonesia, a vast archipelago of more than 17,500 islands, is the fourth most populous id-street-scene-jakarta-un-women-flickrcountry in the world, with 261 million inhabitants, and the largest economy in Southeast Asia, with a nominal Gross Domestic Product of $933 billion.

Central government spending on transport increased by threefold between 2010-2016. This has enabled the country to extend its transport network capacity and improve access to some of the most remote areas across the archipelago.

eC2: Social Inclusion and Youth Development Survey

The services include implementation of surveys that will include modules on: household characteristics; access to and perceptions of local infrastructure; access to and perceptions of education; social networks, social capital, and collective action and associations; local governance; the daily activities and interactions among youth; use of IT and social media; gender; and violent extremism. The survey must be implemented using CAPI system and will cover approximately 5,000 households. The sample will be distributed nationally in Tajikistan using a standard 2-stage approach wherein stratification ensures sufficient sample distribution by region and rural/urban areas. The team plans to oversample respondents in some districts and towns.

Applications open for third round of funding for collaborative data innovation projects

The Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data and the World Bank uganda-cncDevelopment Data Group are pleased to announce that applications are now open for a third round of support for innovative collaborations for data production, dissemination, and use. This follows two previous rounds of funding awarded in 2017 and earlier in 2018.

This initiative is supported by the World Bank’s Trust Fund for Statistical Capacity Building (TFSCB) with financing from the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID), the Government of Korea and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Ireland.
