Analytical Work & TA Ganga River Basin, India

The terms of reference of the assignment outline a major program of work to support the strategic basin planning efforts of Government of India over a two to three year period. The focus of the project is on technical assistance to government though modelling and analytical work combined with capacity building.

The high-level objectives of the project are:
(i) To significantly strengthen the capability of relevant central and state government agencies to undertake comprehensive evidence-based strategic basin planning for the Ganga River basin;
(ii) To develop, document and disseminate (through detailed analytical work and stakeholder engagement) a set of plausible scenarios that balance significantly improving the health of the river and maintaining an acceptable level of economic productivity, and;
(iii) To build stronger and more accessible information and knowledge base to guide ongoing dialogue around and management of the Ganga River basin.

Royal HaskoningDHV wins major contract coastal protection Bangladesh

International engineering and project management consultancy Royal HaskoningDHV has signed a €10.5 million contract with the Bangladesh Water Development Board for engineering consultancy services to protect Bangladesh’s vulnerable coastal zone, home to millions of people.

The next six yearsRoyalHaskoningDHV will be responsible for the detailed design, construction supervision and project management support of hundreds of kilometres of embankment to protect 17 coastal polders and its inhabitants and their livelihoods from natural disasters and climate change. The total project area is some 1,000 square kilometres.The contract is part of the World Bank financed Coastal Embankment Improvement Project, Phase-1 (CEIP-1) of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Capacity Building Sanitation Plan – Vietnam

The development objective of the TA is to support the Can Tho City Peoples’ Committee and the City’s Department of Construction in implementing the poor-inclusive City Sanitation Plan by providing expertise to develop curricula, guidelines and training programs to increase implementation capacity for the Plan.

Through an assessment of current and future demand for human resources competencies in sanitation in Can Tho the TA will establish a framework and program for delivering capacity building to the city agencies responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of sanitation services in the city’s urban, peri-urban and rural areas.
