We are pleased to inform you that yesterday, at the 30th of November, the Netherlands Embassy has successfully hosted its third Annual World Bank Luncheon. The session – attended by government representatives, NGOs, Embassy colleagues and World Bank personnel – included insightful remarks of the World Bank’s lead procurement specialist, Diomedes Berroa. Mr. Berroa shed alight on the Bank’s new procurement strategy. Staying up-to-date on the latest changes in the World Bank Strategies is a priority for the Netherlands and Dutch companies in particular.

Feeding consultants overall responsibility will be to provide strategic support to the Project, from the design to implementation of the pilot dairy supply chain development programs in specific regions of both countries (Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan) and provide recommendations regarding the improvements needed in order to increase the productivity, efficiency and sustainability of milk producers.
Monday November 30th, the Netherlands Embassy in Washington DC organized the third annual World Bank luncheon. The Dutch private sector, World Bank Group Staff, the Dutch Executive Director’s office and Embassy staff came together to talk about the changes to the procurement rules and doing business with the World Bank. Speeches were given by the Dutch Ambassador to the US, Henne Schuwer, the Executive Director to the World Bank Group Mr. Frank Heemskerk followed by a presentation by lead procurement Specialist of the World Bank Mr. Diomedes Berroa.

The Global Environment Facility (GEF) provides support to address global environmental concerns. The GEF IEO, which has central role in ensuring the independent evaluation function within the GEF, is conducting an Evaluation of the Expansion of the GEF Partnership. The evaluation will assess the extent to which the present structure of the GEF partnership meets the needs of its key stakeholders.The consultant will be a member of the evaluation team and will provide support for various tasks related to the evaluation.

The REPUBLIC OF BENIN, the REPUBLIC OF COTE DIVOIRE, GHANA and TOGO have received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Adaptation to Climate Change in West Africa Coastal Areas project, and intend to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.

Current assignment suggests:
Review the existing forestry and main related legislation and regulations in order to identify existing gaps, conflicts and discrepancies; Identify options for changes and amendments based on findings; Prepare a set of recommendations to serve as a base for the Ministry to further draft the amendments for various related legislation to the Ministry of Agriculture, which will be in charge of presenting the amendments for the Parliaments approval;
Review the existing institutional arrangements of the responsible forest authority (Hayantar SNCO), identify strengths and weaknesses, as well as possible duplications with various state forest authorities; and prepare a set of recommendations on how to improve the existing institutional arrangements for the forest agency.
