NL Success: IFC TechEmerge East-Africa

We are excited to announce 3 Dutch Companies are shortlisted for the IFC TechEmerge Health East-Africa: Qtracer, CarePay and SwyMed.index

53 tech companies from 20 countries that have been selected to attend the virtual TechEmerge Health East Africa Innovation Summit (date to be confirmed; possibly Aug/Sept. 2020).

In total, over 415 tech companies from 50 countries applied to the TechEmerge Health East Africa program. Applications went through a competitive evaluation process supported by a global network of  ~30 independent expert advisors. 53 tech companies across multiple categories were identified to have market-relevant solutions that may meet the needs of participating East Africa healthcare providers (“Providers”). There are ~25 leading Providers in Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia participating in the program, serving over 6.5 million patients across 285+ facilities, with 2,850 beds.

eC2: TechEmerge Health East Africa Program

Deadline: 19-Mar-2020 at 11:59:59 PM (Eastern Time – Washington D.C.)

IFC is seeking a consulting firm to provide support on Component 4, specifically to maternal-and-child-healthcare-shofco-dec18-4489support the pilot implementation phase of the TechEmerge Health East Africa program.

It is estimated that there may be around 15+ pilot projects supported under the program, with East African healthcare providers working with shortlisted Innovators to pilot new technologies that can improve their reach, operations, healthcare delivery and/or patient outcomes. The majority of Providers participating in the program are in Kenya, however, it is expected that there will be a few pilots implemented in Uganda and Ethiopia, supporting the Providers that are participating from those markets.

WHY APPLY? tech

  • Innovators will have access to a robust network of East Africa health systems and potential users/buyers of technology.  Over 20 private healthcare providers in East Africa have signed on to the program (multi-specialty hospitals, primary care clinics, labs, pharma retailers, insurers), predominantly in Kenya, but with select providers from Ethiopia and Uganda.
  • TechEmerge offers a pool of up to $1 million in grant funding to support matched pairs. Pilot partners will receive ongoing support and advice during pilot implementation – mitigating financial and operational risks associated with market entry for innovators and reducing adoption risks for local healthcare providers.
  • As the East Africa pilots advance, IFC will evaluate future investment opportunities to help scale the solutions.

eC2: Techemerge Health Brazil – consultancy services to support the promotion and implementation of the project.

Objective: IFC is seeking a consulting firm to provide support in promoting the open call for applications and in supporting the implementation of field testing/demonstration projects. Specific responsibilities under this assignment include: 1) Promoting the TechEmerge Brazil Health program, including the Open Call for applications. 2) Managing and overseeing the implementation of the selected pilot projects to receive support and grant funding under the TechEmerge Brazil Health program. Includes collecting the required documentation for pilot project approval/kick-off, working with Innovators to receive monthly reporting, holding monthly progress update calls with Innovators and Providers, and conducting at least one onsite visit per pilot project. 3) Administering, monitoring and reporting on grant funding made to Brazilian healthcare providers, in line with approved allocations, to support the implementation of pilot projects.
