The RMNCAH TA MDTF is a multi-year trust fund intended to enhance effectiveness in ug-vouchers-that-make-having-a-baby-safe-and-cheap-for-some-ugandan-women-homepage-780x439achieving sustainable RMNCAH results by strengthening the health systems and support progress towards universal health coverage (UHC).

The MDTF is Bank-executed and provides effective and timely TA to develop capacity for efficient implementation of RMNCAH initiatives focusing on improving utilization and quality of essential RMNCAH services. This firm consultancy therefore aims to support selected counties to build/strengthen HPT supply chain systems into efficient, effective, responsive and sustainable systems with emphasis on the 13 lifesaving RMNCAH commodities according to the UN Commission for life saving Commodities through provision of technical assistance.

The consultant will be working with an IFC client company and grapes farmers to improve the productivity and efficiency of clients raisin supply chain and to set in place a strong supply chain management and development capacity in order to ensure the long-term and reliable availability of raisins from farmers at competitive prices, in sufficient quantities and with the high quality required by the client.  The overall objective of the assignment is to improve the productivity and efficiency of the farmers producing and supplying grapes to the Client. The Consultant will also support IFC on collecting the data required for monitoring and evaluating the Projects impact on farmers and their livelihoods.

Objective:  In January 2018 IFC has launched Ukraine Dairy Supply Chain Project. The Projects goal is to create the required know-how and partnerships among dairy industry stakeholders in Ukraine with the aim to increase the cost-efficient output of high quality milk and to support the modernization of the milk processing industry and, as a result, to contribute to improving the competitiveness of the industry on global export markets. The Project is planned to be implemented in two phases: the Pilot Phase (2018- 2019) and the Roll-out Phase, 2020-2022. The main goal of the Project activities in 2018 is to validate the project concept. IFC is hiring a Consultant (a firm), which will support the Project team on the design, testing and implementation of the dairy farm reference models for large-scale and medium-scale dairy farms in Ukraine.

eC2: The recruitment of a firm to perform study on shea butter value chain in Mali

Objective: Shea butter is made from the nuts of the African Shea tree that only grows inmali.png the Sahel region of the continent. In Mali, one of the top shea nut-producing countries, it is estimated that three million women work directly or indirectly in the shea butter sector in Mali, producing an estimated 150,000 tons of shea. However, 95% of shea products are exported as raw material and only 5% as processed products. The current organization of butter production and commercialization activity in villages in Mali is a hindrance to real participation in the export of processed products. The current supply is not completely adapted to satisfy the international requirements of the highest paying markets, which could be a factor of the quasi-inexistent export of processed shea products in Mali. The main objective of the assignment is to prepare a comprehensive program including investment projects as well as technical assistant aiming at increasing Malian sheas value addition through a productive partnership between agro-industry players and smallholders, based on a strong analysis of the shea value chain, its organization, key players, key figures and SWOT analysis, drawing from findings of existing studies and programs on shea in Mali and in the sub-region and new analysis to be conducted by the Consultant.

Objective: IFC wants to develop and publish a world class Knowledge Guide on Internationally accepted Supply Chain Finance (SCF) best practices and techniques while also focusing on the Pakistan market. The objective of the Knowledge Guide is primarily to present to banks and other SCF practitioners with both a broad overview of international best practices in SCF, as well as, lessons learnt from practical work done in Pakistan. The aim is to establish some basic benchmarks and suggest strategies for financial institutions that are either considering entering or are currently engaged in the field of SCF. The SCF Knowledge guide will draw widely from existing research and literature, as well as from primary research with international and Pakistan stakeholders.

eC2: Exploring options for a back-up supply system for essential medicines in Sierra Leone

It is for the development of a tentative business plan for a back-up medicines supply system for public health facilities in the Kailahun and Koinadugu districts.
The consultant is expected to conduct interviews with stakeholders (including those in the two districts) and review existing documentation from various sources, with the goal of: 1, dentifying the list of medicines that is offered through the back-up system
2, Identifying the manufacturers of these medicines that are already licensed in Sierra Leone and verifying the quality standards
3, Identifying potential service providers for the back up system
4, Quantifying the potential demand based on the best possible assumptions of consumption/need and availability in the public supply chain
5, Comparing pros and cons of different pricing/compensation models for a contract with private importers
6, Addressing issues of financing for buffer stock
7, Finding solutions to ensure timely payment.

Based on the findings, a business plan is expected.
