With this assignment, the Moldova ICR Project (#600467) is looking to provide follow-up Kalf in stalsupport to the National Food Safety Agency (ANSA), the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure (MEI) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment (MARDE), in designing a Raw Milk Monitoring Program (RMMP) that is aligned to EU requirements. The task is a continuation of a previous engagement with ANSA on the development of an Action Plan for gaining EU market access for milk and dairy products, where the absence of the RMMP has been identified as an important barrier to access EU markets.

eC2: Implementation of Dairy Training Program

Support to increase productivity and incorporate better management practices through indexthe establishment of an action plan that evaluates the potential of its dairy suppliers where the following market failures exist: i) low productivity and unstable supply of high-quality milk; ii) environmental impacts of dairy production, and iii) limited access to finance hindering adoption of climate-smart-technologies and practices. Within the Clients supply chain, IFC completed assessments for 6 cooperative suppliers related to productivity and food safety practices as well as a diagnostic on managerial/financial skills. The findings have served as a base to structure a four-year project.

Innovative Procurement Practices Help Dairy Sector in India

milk_collection_640India is the world’s largest producer as well as consumer of milk and milk products. India nevertheless faces a shortage of milk and milk products due to increasing demand from the fast growing middle class in the country.

The National Dairy Plan Phase I (NDP-I), a Central Sector Scheme of the Government of India, which is supported by National Dairy Support Project (NDSP), aim to increase milk productivity and market access for milk producers, which are both necessary to meet the growing demand for milk. NDP-I is being implemented with a total investment of about US$350 Million, out of which the Bank has extended a Credit of US$219 Million through the NDSP.
