eC2: Collecting household survey data to measure the impact of floods on household welfare in the Dominican Republic

The World Bank is seeking a firm to carry out a geo referenced household survey to contribute to analysis of floods risks and household welfare in the Dominican Republic. The survey instrument will collect data on the living standards, the perceptions of flood risks, and adaption to floods in the country. The consulting firm will work closely with the World Bank team to develop the appropriate sampling frame and methods, and will have responsibility to deliver survey implementation, including, inter alia: identifying and training enumerators and supervisors; pilot testing the survey methodology using the agreed upon data collection technology; and ensuring quality control through effective arrangements for field supervision and data collection and household follow-ups. Deliverables will include clean and formatted survey data, a data codebook in English, and written reports.

eC2: Pakistan (Sindh): Public-Private Dialogue Platform Facilitator/Coordinator

The World Bank recently completed a study in Pakistan (Sindh Province) through the Private Health Sector Assessment in Pakistan (P164409) and shared the Policy Note For Better Quality and More Integrated PHC Services in Sindh Province: Options Paper with the provincial government counterparts and key stakeholders. This report highlighted that a platform for continuous dialogue between the private and public health sectors is currently absent in the Sindh health system, and could provide a useful entry-point for discussions and sustainable partnerships. In this light, the World Bank, in collaboration with the GoS will support the engagement of key stakeholders through facilitating a Public-Private Dialogue Platform (PPD). This structured forum, will initially be supported by the World Bank, and will consist of quarterly meetings of a consultative group organized in workshop-style discussions, allowing for short presentations to introduce topics or share background information.

The World Bank (WB) is supporting the Government of Indonesia to develop a programmatic response to the challenges of sustainable urbanization. City Planning Labs (CPL) is one such Bank Executed Technical Assistance initiative that aims to support municipal governments to build capacity for a data-driven approach to city planning, enabling the development of smart, inclusive, and sustainable cities. Given the success of the interventions in two Indonesian cities namely Kota Semarang and Kota Denpasar, CPL has received multi-year support from the Indonesia Sustainable Urbanization (IDSUN) Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) to scale-up the initiative.

eC2: DRONE TECHNOLOGY FOR MONITORING INDEPENDENT PALM OIL SMALLHOLDERS PRODUCTION

The overall goal of this project is to establish new method on monitoring independent palm oil smallholder. The selected vendor is expected to recommend a method for smallholder monitoring using drone image advice and data service for smallholders, including develop an effective data distribution to smallholder farmers, cost per farmers, and payment collection system from smallholder farmers.
Specifically, the project will conduct aerial mapping of a minimum 15,000 hectares of smallholder farmland (each with approximately one to three hectares of land) and distribute image data to a minimum 1000 of independent smallholder farmers.
This will include:
– aerial mapping of a minimum 15,000 hectares of smallholder farmland,
– image analysis and interpretation of the image captured by the aerial mapping
– Provide report and recommendation for scale up the use of drone for smallholder monitoring, cost per farmer, effective data distribution and payment collection system from smallholders.

Across the eastern Caribbean sub-region many disaster agencies are under capacitated and institutionally weak due to limitations in human and financial resources. The World Bank is looking for qualified consulting firms to support 5 countries in the Eastern Caribbean and the Caribbean Disaster and Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) in undertaking institutional assessments and strategic investment planning supporting the national and regional architecture for emergency preparedness and response. Work will be done in coordination with beneficiary Governments and CDEMA. The consulting services include (i) assessment of institutional arrangements in place and recommendations for institutional restructuring and organizational change; (ii) support for strategic planning and development of an investment roadmap based on each country’s hazard risk, organizational capacity and resources; and (iii) stakeholder engagement activities.

The World Bank is supporting Indonesia to address critical disaster resilience needs in Indonesian cities. The conceptual framework for a national urban flood resilience program is being finalized and will outline the institutional, regulatory, financial, and technical needs for urban flood risk investments in selected Indonesian cities. A baseline analysis of urban flood risks and high-priority investment gaps identified 5 potential pilot cities. This technical assignment will support 3 of these cities to develop urban flood resilience strategies and investment options, including innovative structural/non-structural measures and nature-based/green solutions through a risk-informed urban design approach, flood hazard assessment, and stakeholder engagement. The consultant is expected to comprise a multi-disciplinary urban planning and design, flood risk engineering, landscape architecture, environmental and social management, and disaster risk management team; including international and national experts.
