eC2: Study to determine pro-poor urban transport interventions in Greater Monrovia

KUTEI (Kabul Urban Transport Effciency Improvment)

The main objective of this study is to carry out a study of supply and demand of urban transport in Monrovia, develop urban accessibility analysis, identify priority investments to meet the growing mobility demand (with a focus in poor population and vulnerable groups) and develop the concept and estimated budget for priority interventions. The study will also assess ways to enhance private sector participation in the provision of bus services. The study comprises the following activities: (i) Diagnostic of Greater Monrovias current urban mobility supply and estimation of future transport demand; (ii) Accessibility analysis to social and economic opportunities; (iii) Demand/Supply analysis; (iv)Identification of priority urban mobility investments; (v) Definition of concept and estimated cost of priority urban mobility investments; and (vi) Identification of private sector opportunities in priority investments.

eC2: Monitoring and Evaluation of Phase I Universal Health Coverage in Kenya

The purpose of this consultancy is to conduct operational research to evaluate demand, supply, and implementation and institutional factors affecting UHC Phase 1 in the 4 counties selected for the pilot. A fail fast, learn fast approach will be used to promptly identify and address implementation barriers and ensure that the lessons learned are documented to further inform the UHC scale-up and are shared with other counties on time.

Gender equality: Unleashing the real wealth of nations

Last week, we launched the Women, Business, and the Law report, which found that annettedespite the considerable progress that many countries have made in improving women’s legal rights over the last decade, women are still only accorded 75 percent of the legal rights that men, on average, are given. As a result, they are less able to get jobs, start businesses and make economic decisions, with economic consequences that reverberate beyond their families and communities.

The gender gap in the disaster risk management sector: why it matters

Over the past decade, the practice of disaster risk management (DRM) has evolved and sustainable_communities_v2-200-lowmatured.  From mainly focusing on disaster response, local and international actors alike now emphasize the importance of preparedness and prevention – saving lives and avoiding losses even before disaster strikes.

Yet despite this progress, there’s much more work to be done to ensure that DRM efforts respond to the particular needs and vulnerabilities of women and girls.  In no small part due to gender inequalities, women are both more vulnerable to natural hazards and less likely to benefit from relief and recovery efforts than men.

eC2: Consultancy to inform strategy and business plan for the African Medicines Agency (AMA)

1. Develop a strategic plan for AMA that defines AMAs strategic direction (strategic objectives) and operating model over a 5-year period that includes the transition of AMRH activities, structures, and governance into AMA.
2. Develop a business plan for AMA that defines how operations will be executed in an efficient and effective way, including the creation of a sound program management approach to deliver the plan.
3. Pressure-test the proposed criteria for both the basket of products to be evaluated and the services to be offered by AMA
4. Develop a fee-for-service model that supports the guidance development and product oversight functions of AMA linked to a solid value proposition that makes the AMA case compelling for industry and product developers and embeds predictability of processes, transparency, and accountability

eC2: Sanitation Situation Analysis and Option Assessment

The objective of this assignment is to conduct a comprehensive sanitation situation assessment including current practice, current capacity of sanitation actors, current interventions, barriers/aspirations with regard to sanitation issues in targeted areas. Specific objectives of this assignment are to:
1- Conduct sanitation situational analysis in areas where water supply systems will be developed under WaSSIP. The situation analysis consists of detailed demographical information/data, populations, socio-economic conditions, potential development trends, and current sanitation and hygiene challenges and interventions.
2- Carry out the gap analysis and developments across the locations in order to give some indication on the priority sanitation interventions that would be needed.
3- Carry out preliminary technical and financial assessment of proposed sanitation solution options (including soft and/or hard intervention) in accordance with the findings of situational analysis.
