IFC is extending support to Maharashtra Energy Development Agency(MEDA) and would like to engage specific Technical Consultants who would support IFC in conducting review of the existing process of rooftop solar proliferation, identify gaps, provide recommendations and assist in development of IT architecture and application/tool to support adoption of rooftop solar by consumers. The actual proliferation implementation will be done for Thane as of now.

eC2: Estimating Current and Diachronic Charcoal Production and Consumption Trends

The objective of this work is to undertake the logistical and administrative aspects of a study to examine the production and consumption of charcoal in Haiti. The study will attempt to answer the following questions: (1) How much charcoal is consumed annually in the capital city of Port-au-Prince; (2) Which geographical regions produce the charcoal consumed in the capital; (3) How do these production areas variably supply charcoal consumption depending on seasonal demand fluctuations; and (4) In what ways has charcoal consumption in Port-au-Prince changed over time? The results of this study will produce important and up-to-date data that may inform policy decisions related to tree-planting, land and landscape management, and agricultural projects targeted toward Haiti’s majority, who live in rural areas and rely on agricultural production activities for their livelihoods.

The study would identify the relative merits of electrification options as measured against social, environmental, technical, financial, economic and operational factors and provide guidance on making electrification choices. The analysis will consider the following:
a. Economic cost-efficiency in delivering electricity using various technologies through a community driven development (CDD) approach;
b. Financial viability and long term sustainability;
c. Other attributes that affect sustainability of these schemes including, functionality and reliability, effectiveness in providing management and operations and maintenance (O&M), cost recovery, environmental (local and global) impacts, and social acceptance, among others;
d. It will characterize risks;
e. The assessment will consider community modalities necessary for electricity supply.

eC2: Feasibility study (Regulatory and Market analysis) for a 500 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine

The Feasibility Study (the Study) shall be comprised of the Regulatory and Market Analysis. It shall be performed by extensive research of publicly available information, regarding the Albanian and regional markets, on regulatory and market developments and assessment of those markets. The results of the Regulatory Analysis will be synthesized in plausible regulatory cases for Albania within the region depending on the withdrawal of coal fired capacity, in RES and sustainability obligations; the gas market developments and; the degree of harmonization of cross-border trading. The Study will also develop plausible macroeconomic scenarios for Albania and the region but with granularity of assumptions on a country by country level. The macroeconomic scenarios will be combined with the regulatory cases to produce combination of scenarios which will then form the basis of the subsequent Market Analysis.

eC2: Resilience Assessment: Batoka Gorge Hydroelectric Scheme in the Zambezi River Basin

A detailed assessment of the effects of climate change and other performance risks such as upstream land-use changes and water abstractions, energy price fluctuations and development scenarios on the daily expected inflow for the Batoka Gorge HES is required to ensure robustness and identify risk mitigation measures. To this end, the consultancy will include: (i) an analysis that uses decision scaling techniques to examine if the technical design of the Batoka Gorge HES is robust to a range of expected changes due to climate change and other major socio-economic pressures. (ii) an investigation of the role of the Barotse Wetlands in attenuating the basins hydrological variability, including flows reaching the Batoka Gorge site; (iii) an examination of hydrological boundary conditions or trigger points for financial products that could be used to off-set hydrological risk; and (iv) related capacity building and training workshops.
