This consultancy is aimed at supporting the revision of the Seychelles NDC with a specific focus on Blue Economy. The consultant will be expected to 1) draft sections of the NDC to incorporate the various aspects of Blue Economy in the adaption and mitigation section and for various sectors, and 2) contribute to draft the National Adaptation plan outlining clear priorities for investment from the Blue Economy and coastal adaptation perspective, essential to achieve climate resilience in the Seychelles.

The primary objective of this Consultancy is to take stock of baseline information for plastic waste leakage into rivers and seas to build a more harmonized regional monitoring, management, and policy framework for plastic waste reduction and enable a more circular economy model for plastics in the South Asia Region. The proposed assignment will document the current status of plastic pollution and its value chain (e.g. hotspots for marine plastic debris, waste composition, material flow of waste plastics), regulatory gap analysis, and identification of relevant stakeholders involved in the life-cycle of plastic and their needs, and possible recycling technology and innovations, etc.

The transport sector has always unleashed the creativity of engineers, inventors, and 
problem solvers of all kinds. But even the greatest innovations don’t always come to life. After the early excitement of the public and investors, the vast majority (70% to 97%) of new ideas do not survive the “trough of disillusionment,” and only a lucky few end up being widely adopted.
Four years ago, the Government of Djibouti launched Vision 2035, a target to improve 
living standards for the country’s people over the next two decades. A country in the Horn of Africa, Djibouti has a rocky, arid landscape that has driven the vast majority of people to cities. More than 35 percent of the country lives in poverty, and about 21 percent in extreme poverty, including nomadic Djiboutians and others who live in extreme rural poverty.
During this pandemic, the remarkable creativity and innovation of youth-led initiatives in sectors like health, jobs, and food security prove that young people are critical in driving forward ideas and actions on global issues. We launched an online campaign to provide a platform for youth to share their stories on hope and resilience. This is what they had to say.
