eC2: Lao PDR and Cambodia: Fostering Green Mobility and Walkable Cities Strategy for Luang Prabang and Siem Reap

The World Bank South East Asia Transport Unit has received funds from the Korean Green Growth Trust Fund (KGGTF) to support Siem Reaps and Luang Prabangs government-led efforts to develop green mobility strategies and strengthen their capacity to implement and prioritize green mobility solutions, with a focus on non-motorized transport. This assignment aims to (1) develop a green mobility strategy including an NMT strategy (i.e. walkable city strategy), including a framework for prioritizing investments for NMT and Green Mobility for Siem Reap and Luang Prabang; and (2) support the strengthening of local technical and institutional capacity to implement the proposed strategy.  The overarching objectives of this assignment are to support the cities adoption of a green mobility strategy and promote modal shift towards NMT, which will result in positive economic gains, including health, GHG and pollution, safety and affordability benefits.

eC2: Increasing Access to Efficient and Clean Cooking in Niger

Niger is experiencing a very strong demographic growth that’s translates into an ever-increasing pressure on the surrounding natural environment. Due to a dual climate and population pressure, the cooking fuel sector has been subject to rapid changes that have been further accelerating since 2015, date when the Programme National des Energies Domestique (PNED) was adopted but not implemented for lack of funds. The World Bank is working in the power sector in access to electricity through the NESAP project and is exploring the feasibility and desirability of integrating Clean and Efficient Cooking aspects in the future. The activity will provide information and analysis to the Bank and Government of Niger and will be structured around two main components: A) market characterization and B) identification of innovative business models to scale up Efficient and Clean Cooking (ECC) solutions and capacity building of stakeholders.

In addition to the customization of the digital tool, the Consultant is expected to train the enterprises local staff to use and deploy the digital tool, train enterprise staff on data analysis and business management using traceability information and transfer the day-to-day operational management of the tool to the Client participating in the AgTech project.
