Boskalis to protect eroded Togo and Benin coastline and construct innovative sand engine concept for beach replenishment

Boskalis has been awarded the contract for the protection and replenishment of more than 40 kilometers of coastline stretching from the eastern coastline of Togo to the western coastline of Benin in West Africa. The coastal protection project is part of the West African Coastal Areas Management (WACA) program. The award was made by the governments of Togo and Benin with the financing made available by the World Bank. The contract carries a value of approximately EUR 55 million.

eC2: Support to the Government of Benin, Burkina Faso and Togo for the Evaluation of Urban Transport and Mobility Management and the Development of a Strategy for Sustainable Urban Mobility

The purpose of the study is to develop comprehensive, coherent and applicable policy recommendations, a relevant strategy, shared by all stakeholders and a priority action plan for the sustainable management of urban transport and mobility in the countries, through a swift assessment of the legislative and regulatory framework of the institutions in charge of the transport sector, a diagnosis of the functioning of the urban transport sub-sector. The study also aims to propose a guide for urban transport improvement and establish a strategic plan for sustainable mobility for the main secondary cities, based on the findings of a comprehensive assessment of one pilot city to be chosen in agreement with the respective Governments.

eC2: Rural Electrification Strategy for Togo

IFC is seeking support on the development of a high-level rural electrification strategy to be delivered to the Government of Togo. The objective of this engagement will be to outline a clear vision and compelling strategy for achieving universal electrification in Togo, with a focus on off-grid systems. In this context, three specific analyses will be undertaken, namely: (i) identification of the high-level market potential for mini-grid and off-grid systems; (ii) articulation of potential business models that would be applicable in the context of Togo, covering private sector-led approaches, public-private partnership approaches, and public sector-led approaches; and (iii) indication of associated financing requirements, both concessional and commercial. This work will largely rely on existing data, specifically the parts of the country that have already been identified as likely to rely on off-grid systems for electrification at the short to medium terms.

The engagement would need to be completed by January 31 2018, and will require fluency in both English and French. Continue reading

eConsultant2: Sustainable Financing Mechanism Study for Mono

The specific objectives of the MBA are to:Bangladesh partnership
Organize and strengthen cooperation between the riparian countries as well as between these countries and all development partners interested and concerned with sustainable water resources management in the Mono Basin;
Harmonize national water resources management policies through the adoption and implementation of an integrated approach for management of the basins water resources ;
Mobilize human, technical and financial resources for the implementation of studies, research and works for the use of water resources for economic, social and environmental development of the Mono Basin;
These specific objectives are the medium and long-term intervention framework developed by member states and should be considered interrelated. A Strategic Action Plan for 2016 2020, aimed at translating these objectives into activities and supporting the development of a sustainable funding mechanism for the MBA, is under formulation.
