In May 2023, a World Bank team visited Secunda, a South African town defined by Sasol’s
unique commercial coal-to-liquids facility, to participate in a workshop on just green transition in Mpumalanga’s coal-rich region. During the workshop, diverse voices from community leaders and global experts discussed the monumental challenges of a green transition, a conversation echoing far beyond the borders of this small town.

MCC Webinar: Procurement@20: The Revised Procurement Framework
The Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) will host a “Procurement@20: The Revised Procurement Framework” webinar on April 3, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM (U.S. EST).
We will host the same webinar in French on April 25, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM (U.S. EST).
Under Procurement@20, MCC has revised the policy, guidelines, and tools that MCC partner countries use to contract with private sector firms, aiming to streamline and accelerate the procurement and contracting process. These revisions will be shared with webinar attendees and MCC staff will be on hand to answer any questions.

IFI Water Technology Fact Finding Mission
With pleasure we would like to tell you more about: The International Financial Institutions (IFI) Water technology fact-finding mission to Washington D.C. that took place 22-25 January 2024. This event was co-organized with the other private sector liaison officers of Austria, Germany, Spain, Canada, Switzerland and UK. 85 participants, 46 water companies from 7 countries visited Washington DC for a vital exchange with the International Finance Institutions (IFI’s).

On March 19-20 the ‘Transforming Transportation’ conference at the World Bank took place,
which was co-hosted by WRI Ross Center for Sustainable Cities and attended by various officials and organizations from the Netherlands.
Across two days of technical sessions and plenaries, more than 150 speakers joined thousands of participants in Washington, D.C., and online to accelerate innovation and create new partnerships. The conference covered key topics of concern for both climate change and sustainable development, including public transportation, electric mobility, walking and cycling, road safety, and increasing access to jobs, education and health care.
