eC2: Validation of the typology and classification system in Bulgaria for assessment the ecological status of surface water bodies of categories “river”, “lake and “transitional waters

1 Validation and biological confirmation of the updated typology of the surface waters

3 Validation of the classification system for the assessment of the ecological status/potential for the types of lakes, reservoirs and development the classification system for transitional waters of lake types L7, L8, L9, and L10.
4 Identification and assessment of the interrelation: anthropogenic pressure-impact-biotic response.
5 Determination of the capacity of water bodies to assimilate nutrient pollution.

eC2: Development of the Urban Nature-Based Solutions Rapid Assessment Tool

The Urban NBS Rapid Assessment will facilitate World Bank task teams in these challenges. The tool or assessment methodology will increase understanding of the performance of urban NBS and helps to identify potential investments in NBS in cities. The tool can be used in the early (pre-feasibility) stage of a project, to support dialogue with client countries and during community consultations, rather than as a design tool. The main audience of the tool will be city governments, project leaders and development partners, who will be investing in urban development interventions.

ESMAP seeks to hire the services of a firm to develop an interactive and dynamic Gender Equality and Off-grid Solar Toolkit, which will (i) provide operational support to WBG task teams during engagement with client governments and the development of WB lending operations in the off-grid energy sector, and deepen the focus on (ii) off-grid and the womens segment (both consumers and enterprises), and (iii) enhancing productive uses of energy (PUE) with a focus on female farmers and female businesses. Target audience for the Toolkit are WB Task Teams, development institutions, financial intermediaries, MFIs and the private sector. This research will aim to reshape the design of off-grid solar energy projects to enhance gender equality by developing new tools that teams can easily use in early conversations with client counterparts in implementation and supervision.

It will focus on the identification of insurance providers who would be willing to offer this type of insurance, existing factors that may enhance or limit their ability to enter into this market, as well as the potential for integrating insurance within the priority value chains. The priority value chains for the purposes of this study are grains, dairy, horticulture (fruit/vegetables), poultry, piggery, and fisheries/aquaculture.

Benchmarking the existing international smart mobility cases and best practice, including a diagnosis of the current situation (needs, challenges, and opportunities for sector reforms) associated with the performance of ITS/smart urban mobility systems in selected Bank’s client cities. 2. Develop a proposal for a smart mobility implementation guideline with the following dimensions: Implementation readiness assessment method – Transport systems and services, and dimensions, to be integrated – ICT architecture, data standards, and protocols 3. Develop detailed implementation action plans and recommendations for pilot activities in Panama on multi-modal and multi-provider payment system integration, integrated bus fleet management systems, well as advanced traffic monitoring and automated enforcement for strategic transit corridors, alongside the implementation of dynamic charging schemes for infrastructure cost recovery models. Carry out desk reviews for the application of the implementation guideline on these smart mobility topics for Vietnam/Turkey pilots. 4. Dissemination and capacity building for selected Bank’s client cities.

To support the entry of private energy firms to the Kakuma-Kalobeyei area as part of the KKCF, it is imperative that market-oriented data be available and packaged appropriately to make the commercial case for energy solutions for mini-grids, SHS, cooking, and productive use. In addition to making the commercial case, the practical steps toward entry of a private firm to the area should also be addressed (how to access land, what role would RAS or UNHCR play, if any, etc.). The assessment will cover Kakuma Town and Kakuma Camp, Kalobeyei Town and Kalobeyei Settlement. More specifically, the work conducted on mini-grid, SHS and productive use will cover Kakuma Camp and Town while the work on energy for cooking will cover both Kakuma Camp and Town and Kalobeyei Settlement and Town.
