The IFC Indonesia Agriculture Insurance project objective is to contribute to increased investments in agriculture and rural communities by introducing insurance solutions to reduce the risks faced by farmers and lenders/businesses working with farmers due to adverse weather events/risks related to climate change (drought/flood/hurricane, etc.).
IFC invites proposals from qualified consultants/firms to conduct Value Chain Mapping of Agriculture commodities in Indonesia, with the objective of identifying promising Agriculture (index) insurance opportunities at different points along the value chain of at least 3 to 4 Agriculture commodities for this project.
The mapping is to provide a clear picture on: 1) Key agriculture commodities to target; 2) Market size/potential – number of farmers & premium volume; and 3) Distribution partners (Agribusinesses, banks, farmers organizations).

Tasks will include: Sector and value chain mapping market intelligence, Business development, Project design, implementation and delivery. Establish client-specific agribusiness credit policies in conjunction with clients Credit Risk Management division and the Business Lines (MSME and Corporate/Wholesale Banking).
Monitor adoption of newly acquired skills and practices by clients and take corrective action or alternative approaches where required. Develop training materials and deliver training for clients on agriculture lending at entry and intermediate levels. Ensure consultation with all key client stakeholders and buy in from Senior Management.

IFC is seeking to employ a Specialist on a Short Term Consultant basis, with extensive experience in agricultural finance, risk management, and SME finance. He/She will support the Program in designing, implementing and managing client advisory services projects in Sub Saharan Africa, with a focus on French speaking countries in the region. He/She will report to the Program Lead and will work closely with the Senior Agrifinance Specialist, the Investment Officers and other Advisory Services staff.
