Gazipur City Corporation (GCC), Greater Dhaka, with an objective to improve public infrastructure for wastewater management in the selected areas under its jurisdiction (Zones 1 and 4) plans to develop, operate and maintain following facilities:
– a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) and a Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP);
– a Sewerage Network System (SNS);
– a Centralized Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) for industries; and
– a non-network fecal and sludge removal system in the non-sewerage areas.
To understand the feasibility of aforementioned objective of GCC, IFC intends to engage a technical consultant to undertake a review of previously done Rapid Assessment study report (done by World Bank Water Resource Group 2030) and build upon it further to assess the robustness and feasibility of the proposed approach and interventions; adequacy / capacity of the project components proposed therein; and develop detailed estimates of the total project cost. The objective of the Assignment is two-fold, as under:
Part A: To assess the existing wastewater management of GCC; and propose a broad road map or strategy (Preliminary Master Plan) for safe collection, conveyance and disposal of wastewater (both industrial and municipal), including a phased implementation plan in alignment with the DSMP for sustainable development.
Part B: Examine and set out technical options and estimate the broad capital cost, O&M expenditure and possible revenue streams for the project components (network and non-network) for safe collection, conveyance, treatment and disposal (including reuse) of wastewater and fecal sludge in project areas, with proposed sites for treatment and safe disposal.
