The objective of the IFC Azerbaijan Investment Climate and Agribusiness Competitiveness Project, is to support the Government of Azerbaijan [GoAz] to diversify and increase the competitiveness of the economy in line with its strategic objectives. The agribusiness component of the project aims at enhancing the market competitiveness of the agribusiness sector as a first priority in diversifying the economy by: (i) enhancing access to quality seeds, and (ii) streamlining regulatory frameworks along agribusiness value chains.
The objectives of the current assignment are to support the Government of Azerbaijan in: (i) harmonizing domestic seed certification rules, regulations and procedures with international OECD seed schemes; and (ii) carrying out capacity building activities on the new seed certification procedures for the National Designated Authority (NDA).

The Project aims at enhancing the market competitiveness of the agribusiness sector as a first priority in diversifying the country’s economy by: (i) enhancing access to quality seeds, and (ii) regulatory streamlining along agribusiness value chains. The regulatory work in the horticulture value chain will seek to reduce the administrative burden of private sector players in these markets and thus contribute to cutting private costs and improve the competitiveness of the horticulture industry.

eC2: Improving freight transit and logistics performance of the Trans-Caucasus Transit Corridor (CTC)

The objectives of the assignment are to: (i) assess the performance of the CTC and identify physical and non-physical impediments along the corridor; (ii) identify priority policy actions and investments to improve the corridor competitiveness, multimodal transportation and logistics; and (iii) carry out stakeholder consultations to build consensus of public and private stakeholders in Azerbaijan and Georgia on priority measures and disseminate the findings to a wider audience through workshops and media coverage.
