Annual Meeting 2020: End Poverty Day

On End Poverty Day, we’re highlighting the urgency of fighting global poverty, particularly in light of the setbacks caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 edition of the biennial flagship Poverty and Shared Prosperity report provides sobering new numbers about how far we are from achieving the goal of ending poverty. This year – for the first time in over two decades – the extreme poverty rate will rise, reversing a trend that has lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty.

Join us and our team of distinguished panelists on this End Poverty Day and seize the opportunity to accelerate action toward the goal of a resilient recovery post-COVID-19. We’ll explore the obstacles to poverty reduction, including conflict and climate change, and focus on the path ahead for developing countries, emphasizing the urgent need for both the public and private sectors to initiate a long-term approach to the recovery.
