The World Bank Group recognizes the critically important role that civil society plays in policy dialogue, service delivery in global health and development. We are pleased to open the call for nominations to select 7 new members of the World Bank Group’s Civil Society Consultative Group on Health, Nutrition and Population (WBG-CSCG-HNP or the Group).
The overall objective of the WBG-CSCG-HNP is to provide a structured and transparent mechanism for CSOs to contribute to; influence; and share information, lessons learned, and advice on the development and impact of WBG plans, policies and programs in HNP in low- and middle-income countries in the context of the WBG’s goals to end poverty and boost prosperity, and the HNP Global Practice goal to end preventable deaths and disability by 2030. Currently, the Group consists of 17 civil society experts on issues related to HNP in different regions, from both national and international organizations. Members serve on a voluntary basis for three years. See Attached Draft Terms of Reference for more information.
Since 2011, the Group meets face-to-face at least once annually, usually on the margins of the WBG-IMF Spring and Annual Meetings. Every month, the civil society members of the group convene a virtual meeting in which WBG team members also participate. Recent topics for discussion by the Group include: health financing; reproductive health; the World Bank and Community Systems Strengthening for Health ; and the Global Financing Facility Concept Note.
Attached please find the Nomination Form for membership in the WBG-CSCG-HNP. Completed nomination forms should be accompanied by CVs and sent to hnpcso@worldbank.org. The deadline for receipt of all nominations is 5:00 p.m. EST January 30, 2015. Selected candidates will be notified by early March 2015. They will be expected to travel to Washington to attend the next face to face meeting scheduled for April 14 -15, 2015, alongside the WBG-IMF Spring Meetings. The WBG will cover travel expenses on economy basis to attend the face to face meeting.
