What is it ? Doing Business 2016: Measuring Regulatory Quality and Efficiency, a World Bank Group flagship publication, is the 13th in a series of annual reports measuring the regulations that enhance business activity and those that constrain it. Doing Business presents quantitative indicators on business regulations and the protection of property rights that can be compared across 189 economies—from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe—and over time.

When was it published? Tuesday October 27th, 2015

How ? Data in Doing Business 2016 are current as of June 1, 2015. The indicators are used to analyze economic outcomes and identify what reforms of business regulation have worked, where and why. This year’s Doing Business report continues a two-year process of introducing improvements in 8 of 10 Doing Business indicator sets—to complement the emphasis on the efficiency of regulation with a greater focus on its quality.

The World Bank Group is seeking to recruit a consultant (firm) to perform a diagnostic study of the small solar off-grid and lantern market in light-bulb-297489_640Somalia/Somaliland.

The study will form an important part of designing a “Lighting Africa” project for Somalia/Somaliland, which will be a major vehicle for the World Bank Group for reaching IDPs, nomadic populations and other underserviced groups without access to lighting and modern energy.

eConsultant2: Small-scale water reservoirs in Mozambique

Deadline:16-Nov-2015 at 11:59:59 PM (Eastern Time – Washington D.C.)

IFC and its agribusiness client in Mozambique are looking for a consulting firm with civil engineering and hydrology expertise to determine optimal locations for 100 to 150 small scale earthen water reservoirs within specific target catchments in two provinces. The location of the reservoirs will be recommended based on physical and social factors, which the consulting firm will have researched, analyzed and utilized in the development of its report.

A potential second phase of the project will include developing drawings and costs for up to 150 reservoir sites.
